Club Profile
|
Taytay is one of the most progressive and populous towns of the Province of Rizal. It is where one can find some of the country's finest wood craftsmen, makers of high quality wood and sash works and ready to wear dress makers whose products are much sought after in Baclaran. It was from these traditional occupations that the name of the club logo, "NAHIWAGI", was derived (Nanahi which mean dress maker and Alwagi which stands for carpenter.)
Due to its proximity to the country's premier business center, i.e. Ayala and Ortigas Centers, it is not surprising that many professionals who work in the said business districts have chosen Taytay as residence.
Not a few business entities have chosen Taytay as a haven for expansions well aware of the potential it presents.
Giving the foregoing circumstances, it was therefore, just a matter of time before the first and only Rotary Club in Taytay was founded. So that in 1997, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of East Rizal tapped some of the towns businessmen and professionals led by Vice-Mayor Benjamin Esguerra to attend the club's first organizational meeting. Succeeding meetings were held which saw the number of charter members steadily grow past the minimum number required. By then, the Provisional Rotary Club of Taytay had elected its first set of officers led by Benjamin Esguerra as Charter President, Magtanggol Macabuhay as President-elect, Mark Boncris Santos as Vice-President. On December 3, 1997, the Rotary Club of Taytay was approved for chartering by the Rotary International.
Today, the Rotary Club of Taytay is one of the town's most active and prominent service oriented organizations, thanks to the dedication of its members as well as the unwavering support of the past and present District 3800 of Rotary International.
