Club Profile
|
Fourteen years ago, the Rotary Club of San Juan West was born. It was chartered on June 9, 1988 during the incumbency of RI Pres. Charles Keller and District Governor Tino Cacanindin with the able support from the President of the Rotary Club of San Juan and PP Tony Co who later became District Governor in RY 1998-1999.
Charter President Constancio "Chito" San Jose, a Rotarian from Dagupan City, Pangasinan, together with twenty idealistic and young professionals from different vocations took their oath as Rotarians. As a neophyte organization, the club accepted all the challenges entrusted by District 3800. It hosted and sponsored Zone VII (San Juan) and district activities. Some Past Presidents served as District Officers in various capacities. For all the efforts, the club was recognized, awarded and accorded due respect as one of the outstanding clubs in Rotary International.
RC San Juan West is now on its fifteenth fruitful year of service and existence, special thanks to the six charter members who are still able and willing to render more sacrifices as they have done to help build a very strong foundation for what the club is today. All have become presidents, namely: CP Chito San Jose, PP Mon Sto. Domingo, PP Ric Santos, PP Peds Tuason, PP Ruel Abuel, and PP Jimmy Tan. Past Presidents Carl Matriano, Vic Chua, Alex Salvador, Edmon Mondares, and IPP Goerge Miller, just like the remaining charter members, are the still untiring behind-the-scene workers always willing and enthusiastic to serve the club.
The early years of the club were difficult ones, but the members did their best to put the club in the right direction. Like a diamond being cut out to perfection, some members have to go. But those who remained primed the organization to be the strong club that it is now. Members then were few and overworked, but solidly united behind the ideals of the organization that is ROTARY INTERNATIONAL. The club was not lacking of DISTRICT and INTERNATIONAL AWARDS.
Those fruitful years under the presidency of the fourteen presidents had gone. They've come a long way, had a glorious history, had their ups and downs, it's like a litany of marriage vows that they've been through. And now on its fifteenth year, the Incoming Pres. Reynaldo L. Navarro and the rest of the members of the ROTARY CLUB OF SAN JUAN WEST will continue to fulfill its great mission of service through fellowship to the community, to the country and to the world.
