Club Profile

The Rotary Club of San Juan Metro was chartered on 17 June 1991 with 33 charter members led by CP Osmundo Umali and Charter Secretary Fortunato Aguas. The club was a spin-off from the Rotary Club of San Juan North and was endorsed by the Rotary Club of Greenhills led by PP Inas Enriquez and PP Jojo Claudio.
District Governor Eduardo "Edi" Chua C.K. gave his immediate, all-out support and blessings. PDG Rufino Luna, PP Prescioso San Juan and Rey Legal joined hands in organizing the new club so that the chartering became a reality.
The first years saw the Club like a pond to a toddler, trying to achieve a steady gait, fine tuning its directions. With the persistence and patience of Past Presidents Nestor Mangio, Ferning Rivera, Cynthia Tan, Cynthia Lazo, Arlu Gomez, Greg Santayana III as well as other club officers and directors like PP Philip Yu, IPP Joseph Dy, Rtns. Albert Castro, Hermie Prudente, Ed Tiano, P Norma Urbina, Lorna Palasaga, Rosette Guerrero, Gilda Bengzon, Linda Arcilla, Annabelle Salazar, Arnie Murillo, Yvonne Pascual, & Jun Salvador. The club went through growing pains. Our Rotaract and Interact Clubs were organized and chartered. Together, many notable projects were held for the benefit of the youth and community.
The club is presently in the midst of paradigm, shift in programs and projects for its clients geared towards self-help, no dole-outs, more services delivery, more values training and education. Its dream project of transforming the poor in Barangay Corazon de Jesus into a self-reliant community is all set to take off.
This dream of making the poor is the Club's own way of concretizing its commitment to Rotary ideals on improving the quality of life around the world.
