Club Profile

The eventful birth of the Rotary Club of Rizal Uptown is credited to a few strong-willed Rotarians, men of good intentions who refused to let Rotary's ideals of fellowship and service simply die down in them. With sheer determination to continue serving their less fortunate countrymen, these Rotarians took pains in the preparations for the organization of the new Rotary club having RC Angono as the sponsoring club sharing with them the territorial boundaries of the towns of Binangonan and Angono, Rizal.
Thus, on November 02, 1997, the first meeting of the provisional club was held at DGSR Rudy Cubillan's residence attended by the core group led by CP Cito Mateo. Series of meetings ensued like the one held on November 9, 1997 during the birthday celebration of Rtn. John Dimson. In that meeting, the complete list of charter members, the set of club officers and directors were finalized in the presence of no less than PDG Lina Aurelio and PP Efren De Guzman.
Evident in the next meeting was the enthusiasm displayed by the seasoned Rotarians as well as the new recruits eagerly anticipating the receipt of the Charter Certificate from Rotary International.
On December 17, 1997, RCRU was finally chartered. The notice was, however, received on January 2, 1998. Its final official meeting was held on January 8, 1998 at Gardenville Resort. Present were PDG Santi Chua, PDS Pepe Peralta and some Rotarians, notably for RC Angono, the sponsor club, who extended their sincere congratulations on the chartering and acceptance of the new club to Rotary International.
Although the club is still experiencing from the so called "birth pains", it has nevertheless undertaken several projects among them were: Donation of NSAT reviewers to the graduating class of Don Vicente Madrigal High School in Binangonan; Career counseling to graduating high school students; Installation of 4-Way Test cum directional marker; Annual tree planing; Christmas gift-giving; Organization of Interact and Rotaract Clubs; yearly hosting of in-bound GSE delegates; and the faithful attendance to all District sponsored activities.
The club had inducted able and deserving professionals to Rotary. Wider scope of services were performed such as giving aids to victims of tragedies and performing medical and dental missions in the remote barangays of Casinay, Binangonan in coordination with the Rizal Provincial Health Office. A pacemaker was donated to a heart patient.
Truly, RCRU will continue to be united in the commitment to carry out Rotary's motto "Service Above Self."
