Club Profile

The Rotary Club of Mutya Ng Pasig started out as a probationary club in September 1998, borne out of the persuasive skills and perseverance of then President Dan Santos and DGSR Boyette Coronel of the Rotary Club of Pasig Sunrise. Gathering a group of ladies determined to serve the community was no problem except that they were very busy and the hectic schedule of each prospective member hampered initial calls for the meetings. But the call of service finally prevailed and the club was able to gather just the right number of qualified members to get it started for chartering.
The club was chartered by Rotary International on April 28, 1999. On May 21, 1999, the Rotary Club of Mutya Ng Pasig was officially and formally admitted into the world of Rotary by then District 3800 Governor Tony Co at the Richmond Hotel, Pasig City. Its first set of officers was headed by Charter President Lorna Angeles-Bernardo, Vice Mayor of Pasig City.
From then on, there was no let up in the Club's regular meetings and activities as distinguished Rotarians, Past District Governors and Past Presidents of other clubs visited RC Mutya to give talks and orientations which helped the members overcome difficulties usually experienced by newly organized clubs. The resourcefulness and creativity of its club members led by Charter President Lorna Bernardo and Past President Sally Magat enabled RC Mutya ng Pasig to undertake many projects and participate in the district and zone activities for which it distinguished itself. Such projects included: Toothbrush Giving - "Garantisadong Pambata"; Typhoon Relief - "Oplan Damay"; "Oplan LP - Libreng Lapis at Papel"; "Turu-turo - Murang Kakanin"; Christmas Caroling and Gift Giving; Children Reading and Learning Center; and Adopt-A-School, among others. On its 1st Charter Anniversary, the club installed 4-Way Test Makers in Barangay Halls of Bambang, Malinao, Sta. Cruz and San Nicolas in Pasig City. During its 2nd Charter Annivesary, the club launched a special project to provide free cooking lessons and livelihood to depressed communities in Barangays San Joaquin and Maybunga, Pasig City.
The club has earned the respect and recognition of its fellow Rotarians in the short time that it has operated. On the first year, it won awards for its "Oplan Damay" project; Presidential Citation and Certificate as Outstanding Rotary Club. For RY 2000-2001, the club was awarded as one of the Top Twenty Outstanding Rotary Clubs in District 3800, the Leadership Award and the Presidential Citation for "Creating Awareness and Taking Action". It also received the Certificate of Recognition for its participation in the Bantay Kalikasan Project - "Save the La Mesa Dam".
The Rotary Club of Mutya Ng Pasig is going stronger than ever as its membership roster grows consisting of respected businesswomen/men, professionals and community leaders. Its members are raring to go the full distance in proving their mettle as true-blue Rotarians in keeping with the motto "SERVICE ABOVE SELF."
