Club Profile
|
The Rotary Club of Mandaluyong was organized as a provisional club of District 385 on April 5, 1963 under DG Alfonso Oboza of RC Davao. The sponsoring club was RC Quezon City under members of our mother club like Fred Borromeo, Carling Treyes, Tony Trullech, Al Routon and Han Hudge joined as charter members. The charter presentation and induction were held at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club on February 7, 1964, with Vice President Emmanuel Pelaez as guest of honor and speaker.
At the time of the club's chartering in February 1964, there were 51 clubs through the Philippines with total membership of 1,966.
The club helped the organization of RC Pasig (1970), RC Mandaluyong West (1975), RC Mandaluyong North (1983), RC Mandaluyong South (1985, RC Mandaluyong East (1986), and RC Mandaluyong Wack Wack (1988. It established and sustained sister club relationship with RC San Fernando, La Union, RC Guagua in Pampanga, RC Central Tarlac, RC Santiago, Isabela and also internationally with RC Kowloon North (Hongkong), RC Pudu (Malaysia), RC Kiryu West (Japan), RC Pandan Valley (Singapore), RC Taipei Northwest (Taiwan) and RC Busheon (Korea).
RY 1987-1988 saw the assumption of office of Tino Cacanindin of RC Mandaluyong as District Governor of the newly organized D-380. The club produced the second District Governor for RY 1989-1990 with the election of PDG Cesar Bautista. Last RY 1998-1999, the club's 3rd District Governor, Antonio Co took the helm of District 3800. DGE Antonio Puyat for RY 2003-2004 will be the 4th District Governor coming from RC Mandaluyong.
Since its birth, the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong has been living by Rotary's Motto "Service Above Self" through effective community betterment projects and support to the District and The Rotary Foundation. This tradition of service has been passed from RCM President to the next and shall remain to be the way of life for the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong.
