Club Profile

It all began in the eighties, when a group of ambitious professionals and entrepreneurs met regularly at a coffee shop of the former Makati Supermart at the Makati Commercial Center, now Ayala Center. They were all from the eastern towns of Rizal who were either working or residing in Metro Manila. PDG Tino Cacanindin of the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong, who is a friend of one from the group, got wind on this regular meetings and persuaded them to organize a Rotary club. Thus, in 23 February 1989, the Rotary Club of Lakeshore Rizal was chartered, coincidental with the birthday of Paul Harris. From then on, the club grew in numbers and became one of the most active Rotary clubs in District 3800.
Sired by the Chartered President Clarito "Lito" Soriano, the club continued on with its projects and programs through a succession of equally enthusiastic and service-oriented presidents:
  • 1990-1991 Honorio "Nory" F. Ingal
  • 1991-1992 Adorable "Abling" G. Bautista
  • 1992-1993 Rodolfo "Rudy" S. San Felipe
  • 1993-1994 Benjamin "Benjie" Tolentino
  • 1994-1995 Ricardo "Kado" S.D. Gutierrez
  • 1995-1996 Antonio "Tony" R. Mateo
  • 1996-1997 Florante "Dante" E. Diozo
  • 1997-1998 Felino "Boy" S.M. Angeles, Jr.
  • 1998-1999 Eduardo "Ed" P. Garrovillas
  • 1999-2000 Roberto "Betoy" R. Mateo
  • 2000-2001 Rolando "Rolly" G. Golla
  • 2001-2002 Efren "Efren" N. Balajadia
Since the birth of RC Lakeshore Rizal, it has been consistently performing its annual programs, such as Medical & Dental Missions, Operation Tule, Operation Thyroid, Book Caravan, Tree Planting, Career Guidance Forum, Summer Youth Camp and Gift Giving. Not to be forgotten are the continuing fellowship activities such as the once a month Hometown Meetings and Spouses Day, Duckpin Bowling, Valentines and Christmas Parties and Family Outings.
RCLR's territorial boundaries are located along the shores of Laguna Bay except Teresa that is situated upland, hence the name Lakeshore. These areas are mostly fishing and agricultural communities that inspired PP Abling Bautista to conceptualize the "Parola" as the club bulletin logo. Parola or Lighthouse is an edifice common along the lakeshore towns whose beacon serves as guide to farmers and fishermen on their way home. Relatively, it symbolizes RC Lakeshore Rizal's commitment to the community and their kababayan and for us Lakeshore Rotarians, Parola relates to Rotary's motto, 'SERVICE ABOVE SELF" and club's motto "WALANG TANGGIHAN."
