Club Profile
|
RC Kalookan North is the brainchild of the equally young and dynamic PDG Lina A. Aurelio of RC Sampaguita Grace Park. The club was set in motion on April 14, 1991 in a meeting presided by DGSR Lina A. Aurelio, DG Edi Chua C.K., DS Teddy Zamora and with eight prospective members.
Sailing was initially rough though after tedious process of adjustments by the prospective members and series of Rotary Information given, the club become reality. The Provisional club was subsequently chartered by the Rotary International on April 29, 1991.
It was on April 14, 1991 during a regular meeting that an election was held the group finally came with their constitution and by-laws. Elected as Chartered President was Carlos V. Cabochan of DVC Supermarket.
Formal charter presentation and induction ceremonies at the Valle Verde Country Club on August 3, 1991, market the birth of the Rotary Club of Kalookan North.
The RCKN is precedent in the annals of Rotary Club information. It fully controverts the prevalent notion that Rotary is for the unexacting and passive middle-aged and senior members of society. The RC Kalookan North is the sanctuary of the young and vibrant.
Among its members are group of young and dynamic professionals and businessmen. The club has a supermarket manager, industrial plastic printer, makers of fire fighting equipment, steel fabricator, industrial chemical distributor, jewelry maker, plastic manufacturer, civil engineer, judiciary court officer, information technology distributor, lawyer, commercial printer, accountant, surgeon, food retailer, security services, law enforcer, banker, LPG distributor and the lumber distributor.
With the club's tenth year in service, various projects had been accomplished and still ongoing to help our community and less fortunate fellowmen. Among them are construction of public toilet, tree-planting, dental and medical projects, artificial eye implantation, operation "Bukol", operation hernia, operation "tule", operation pustiso, computer literacy, college and vocational scholarship grants, gift-giving projects, seminar and training programs. Career Development Talk projects, Vocational tours, installation of 4-Way Test billboards, Adopt a Day Care Center, hosting of GSE team and Rotex student, sponsoring a new Rotary club, book and toys donations, water improvement and development program, livelihood projects, feeding and disaster management program, apprenticeship program, adopt-a-Day Care Center, Jobs Fair and other various projects organized by the district and Rotary International.
With all the accomplishments, we were chosen as "The Most Outstanding NGO in Caloocan City" by the City Government headed by Hon. Mayor Reynaldo Malonzo and the award was given during the 38th Foundation Day of Caloocan last Feb. 16, 2000 by then Vice President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
