Club Profile
|
It was some 13 years ago when a group of young entrepreneurs and professional started what is now known as the Rotary Club of Kalookan Central. The small provisional club composed of 12 members started social meetings in their respective residences and places of business, under the careful eye of then PP Bert Acolola of the Rotary Club of Kalookan, the organizing club.
The starting members then recruited more prospects via personal acquaintances and increased eventually to meet the standard requirements for membership of a charter club and formally held meetings at the Bonanza Restaurant in Quezon City.
With 20 members composing its charter, the club was finally chartered on June 16, 1988, with CP Conrado "Conrad" Dejeres as its Charter President. The first few years of the club's existence centered on membership growth, with rounds of lectures and talks delivered by invited Rotarians, experts on the different Avenues of Service as its source of Rotary Information, with fellowship on top of its agenda.
After the first year, succeeding officers of the club little by little introduced innovations and means to enhance the club's activities via a well studied and planned club plans and programs designed to suit the growing thrust for a more stronger club status. Several changes were introduced; first, the meeting venue was changed from Quezon City to the City of Kalookan, under the term of PP Leonardo "Nonoy" De Jesus, Jr. The move proved to be the magic formula to a more cohesive an active membership among members, who incidentally are all residents of the area, finding it more accessible and time saving for them to attend regular club meetings.
Today, the club on its 14th year, is very strong and still growing. Under the leadership of President Louie Que, the club has grown from 23 to 28 members already, in a span of a quarter with a 25% increase in membership and if things will happen as planned, RCKC may achieve the target goal of 12 new members before the year ends.
With a serious consideration, the club under its present set-up and organization, will probably stay on for the next decade and with dedicated members loyal to the organization, expect RCKC to be one of the clubs always dependable, reliable and strong in leadership if not the best.
