Club Profile

As early as August 20, 1994 orientation meetings were already held to organize a new Rotary baby in the Valenzuela Zone. However, it was two years later, in August 1996, through the sponsorship of RC Metro Valenzuela and through the efforts of PP Porfirio "Pio" Rodriguez that a new Rotary club was born. The youngest Rotary club in Valenzuela was indeed ripe for chartering and so Rotary International granted its charter on December 26, 1996 and RC Greater Valenzuela was born.
On February 7, 1997, the club was formally chartered and its charter members were inducted at Maricopa Restaurant with Senator Orly Mercado was its guest speaker who lauded the charter members headed by its charter president Ruby R. Gonzales, the first lady President in the Valenzuela Zone.
Since its charter year, the club produced 5 members, 1 Paul Harris Fellow and 1 sustaining member. The club boasts of its varied membership mostly young professionals and achievers in their respective fields. Another is the members unique bond with each other that perhaps enabled the club to weather its baptism of fire through the past year of its existence. Like in any organization remain with the group through thick and thin.
The new kid on the block is now one big happy family of Rotarians, men and women, both young and old. The young blood are the indefatigable spirit whereas the other set, has continually provided the necessary guidance and wisdom in every club endeavor.
To date, the club has embarked in several projects in accordance with Rotary International thrusts. In RY 1996-1998, its has continually undertaken the "Fog Mosquitoes" - mosquito eradication project, anti-pollution campaign through the "Reduce, Re-use, Recycle" projects, the "Rota-Soap" an experimental soap manufacturing project, the "Rota-Cart" a continuing livelihood project in coooperation with RC Nishio, Japan, "Lakbay-Aral Para sa Kinabukasan" education field trips, a Matching Grant project with RC Pusan Dongyeonji, its sister club in Korea, in the construction of a deep well with overhead tank in Paso de Blas Elementary School.
The succeeding years, the club embarked in several joint Valenzuela Zone activities like, District Oratorical Contest, Search of the Outstanding Public Servants of Valenzuela. The club also has coalesced with the Philippine Business for Environment for environmental projects in the city. The club embarked in a disaster relief in Calumpit, Bulacan for "Operation Sagip Loleng", Blood Donation project with PNRC, anti-rabies vaccination in Bahayang Pag-asa Subd., Maysan and Don Pedro Subd. In Marulas. Notebook donations to pupils of Paso De Blas Elementary School and fund raising project with RC Metro Valenzuela for the premiere Showing of "The Siege", "Buhok Ko Alay Ko" donation of wigs and hair to cancer victims are only a few of the many projects that the club had done in the service of the community.
To date, the club is honored to have the following Rotarians at the helm of its presidency and their respective Rotary Themes: CP Ruby Gonzales, RY 1996-1997 Build the Future with Action and Vision and RY 1997-1998 Show Rotary Cares; PP Carlos Yu, RY 1998-1999 Follow your Rotary Dreams; PP Gil Gacer, RY 1999-2000 Rotary 2000 Act with Consistency, Credibility, Continuity; PP Neil Valenzuela, RY 2000-2001 Create Awareness, Take Action; Pres.
