Club Profile

November 19, 1970 - the Rotary Club of Antipolo (now East Rizal) was chartered. It was the first Rotary Club in Rizal extended by the Rotary Club of Marikina. Its territories comprise of Antipolo, Taytay, and Cainta. The officers and members of the Rotary Club of Antipolo adopted a signature project TUBIG SA BARYO and this project was listed in the World Community Service Library (WCS) which resulted to favorable responses from the different Rotary Clubs around the world-notable the U.S.A., Canada and Japan. They supported the project Tubig Sa Baryo with funding for the construction of deep wells in the three towns of Rizal. Up to this time, the project is still very much in existence.
In the early 80's, the club was faced dwindling membership. Most of the past presidents resigned for various reasons. That was the beginning, one of the oldest clubs in the district was at the verge of dying a natural death. But seven men of good intentions who were remnants of the club's glorious past, refused to let the club go down. They tried to rekindle the ideals of Rotary and kept the club alive. Service projects, small but meaningful were undertaken and completed.
For obvious reasons, in 1983, the group decided to change the name of the club into Rotary Club of East Rizal with the same territorial jurisdiction. They begun to invite friends, professionals and businessmen from the three towns and sure enough, new and fresh faces were accepted and the members have began to expand and continued to grow.
Today, the Rotary Club of East Rizal is fully resurrected but we are always vigilant not to repeat the predicament of a dying club. We have passed the test. Now we are broadening our horizons as we are trying to hurdle the test for excellence so that we maybe one in saying that: "All the tomorrows will be a challenge and the past are just now memories which serves as our guide through the years."
