Club Profile
|
The organization of the Rotary Club of Dagat-Dagatan was conceived thru the initiative of its mother club, the Rotary Club of Navotas.
The late Past President of RC Navotas, Alberto "Bert" Lopez initiated the gathering of businessmen and professionals in the newly reclaimed community called the Tondo Foreshore Development Project. The area is 700 hectares reclaimed land located at the southwestern boundaries of Navotas, east of Malabon, western side of Kalookan and northeastern part of Manila.
The members of the club are predominantly from Navotas area and the listing of available classification in the community is kept in current to allow residents and entrepreneurs of adjoining towns to be admitted.
The club was formed under the stewardship of DG Mike Ampil of R.I. District 3800 with the help of DGGR Jose Pascual. The first organizational meeting was held on March 19, 1984 at the Kapitbahayan Community Center. On June 28, 1984 Rotary International approved the organization of the Club. Charter Presentation was held on October 10, 1984.
The Rotary Club of Dagat-Dagatan is proud to have as Presidents the following who have continued to pursue the club's goal and objectives guided by Rotary principles: CP Rody San Pedro, PP Ed Turbanos, PP Roger San Juan, PP Mito Arrogante, PP Louis Mayrina, PP Bert Carlos, PP Enchong Araga, PP Jun Dela Cruz, PP Nick De Leon, PP Sitong Dela Cruz, PP Zalo Almanon, PP Dave Ligon, PP Cyril Solidum, PP Dodie Nabong, PP Banny Vargas, PP Boy Almocera, PP Liw Rojas, IPP Cindy Vargas.
These Past Presidents served the club with distinction, initiating projects beneficial to the community. Prominent among its continuing projects is the Club's monetary and hands-on service to a Foundation who caters to exceptional children with physical disabilities and behavioral problems.
