Club Profile
The Rotary Club of Cainta was chartered on June 16, 1988 through the efforts of DGSR Precioso San Juan of RC Mandaluyong West during the term of DG Tino Cacanindin. Along with 33 other charter members, Salvador "Buddy" Barnachea was inducted Charter President. The club's territorial boundaries cover the whole town of Cainta with about 15% of its members coming from the nearby cities of Pasig and Antipolo and Taytay town. To date, the club has one senior active, two past service and 27 active members whose classifications cover a wide range of professions and business interests. Also, among them are twelve Paul Harris Fellows, eight sustaining members and two TRF Benefactors.
Through the years the club has undertaken various noteworthy projects enhancing Rotary's image and reputation in the community. Notable among them, garnering four R.I. Presidential Significant Achievement Awards, to wit:
- 1989-1990 Livelihood for Disabled Project - Pres. Boyet Fernandez
- 1990-1991 Kita sa Bakal Project - Pres. Pete Petisme
- 1993-1994 Thrice a Week Supplemental Feeding Project - Pres. Briggs Leyva
- 1996-1997 Rotary Week Project - Pres. Romy Belmonte
After each year of service since its charter, the club has always received the R.I. Presidential Citation for its four avenues of service programs aside from other meritorious awards for various services rendered to the community.
The club had also hosted several district and inter-zonal fora and sports tournaments, among them: District Mid-year Review ('90), PESETS ('92) Rotary Information and Membership Development ('93) and Tennis Tournaments ('96 & '99).
The club had also been a recipient of Matching Grants, one for deep well project, another for a Livelihood Project to purchase sewing machines and another one for a Medico-Clinical Laboratory, and for RY 2000-2001, MC to Purchase musical instruments for the blind musicians of VIBES, Inc.
The club today, owes its bonding, camaraderie and friendships to a string of initiatives done by several presidents of the past. Some of which are: conducting a Team Building and Conflict Management Seminar for club members (96-97); going on yearly outings and conducting club meetings and planning sessions wherever it had been decided upon. One interesting and fun undertaking was going on a 3-day sojourn. This project meant visiting several local Rotary Clubs along a planed route, arranging beforehand, the programs, meetings, book donations to their local public schools and the conduct of spelling and computer quiz contests. Matched club pacts had been forged with the following RCs: Dagupan East, Binmaley Century and Lingayen. These sojourn have taken us to as far north as Tarlac, Urdaneta, Pangasinan, San Fernando, La Union and Laoag and to the south to Tagaytay, Batangas, Pagsanjan and San Pablo.
The club had also inked Matched club pacts with RC Cebu Fuente and RC Davao Central and continues to communicate with these clubs to date.
The club has never failed to send delegates to International Conventions, District Conventions and Assemblies yearly since its beginning.
And cognizant of its responsibility to spread and share Rotary's ideals at large, it has sponsored the birth of two clubs - the Rotary Club of Cainta Brookside Hills, chartered in 1998; and the Rotary Club of Cainta East based at Village East, chartered June 28, 2000.
There is no end to the challenges before us but the Rotary Club of Cainta stands firm and will not shirk its responsibilities. It will be there alongside the rest of the clubs in District 3800 doing what it knows best - render unqualified SERVICE and engage in wholesome FELLOWSHIP all the way.
