Club Profile

The Rotary Club of Angono was conceived at the start of RY 1993-94. On July 14, 1993, the first organizational meeting was held at the residence of PP Nemi Miranda (RC East Rizal). The meeting was initiated by PP Romeo P. Cabungcal (RC East Rizal) representing PDG Ting Tanco, who was the incumbent District Governor at that time. Prominent civic leaders PP Peping Malonzo and CP Chito Blanco and some twelve prospective and potential members from Angono together with Rotarians from RC East Rizal, discussed among others, the possibility of organizing an Angono based Rotary club.
After securing positive results from the surveys made, the group went to work and invited several noted businessmen and professionals in Angono. The task was easier said than done. After a couple of months, growth of membership came to half. With just a handful strong-willed professionals and businessmen, CP Chito magnified the call of the mother club for more members, and by October 1993, the club, almost chartered-strength, was having their regular meetings complete with programs and invited guest speakers.
The charter application was submitted to the Rotary International through the South East Asia Branch Office (SEABO) on December 27, 1993 and was finally chartered on January 3, 1994.
It is worthwhile to note that RC Angono with the leadership of CP Chito Blanco, began to circulate to the different Rotary clubs by attending multi-club meetings with RC of East Rizal. He likewise attended induction of different clubs. RC Angono also participated in the Zonal medical-dental-tree planting projects in Baras where its members played a key role signifying their support to the district.
On its second year, the president resigned for some personal reasons, the twenty-three chartered members dropped to thirteen. It was during this rough year when a lot of problems arose. Rotarian Aurelio C. Samson, with his strong commitment and willingness, assumed the role as President of the club.
