CLASSROOM RULES

All students will:

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Students will always come to class prepared with:

ABSENT POLICY

It is the student's responsibility to inquire about and make up all work missed due to his or her absence.

Please read the following for an outline of my absent policy and how it affects missing work.

HOMEWORK

Homework is extremely important in our science class. Please read the following and keep in mind that homework is an extension of what we are learning in our classroom and the completion of all homework--no matter how big or how small-- is important and will help you to further understand all that we will be learning this year.

If you should miss any homework assignments due to an absentee, the following will guide you through my policy:

TESTS AND QUIZZES

The taking of examinations is a given.  Students should always prepare and study for quizzes and tests to ensure success.

Students have 1 week to make up any missed examinations. However, all students should be prepared to take a missed examination the day that he/she returns to school!

PROJECTS

Our science classroom is very project-oriented and you should expect to complete some type of project for every topic that is covered this year.

Projects are due on the date that is assigned. Students are always given ample time to complete both short-term and long-term projects, so DO NOT wait until the last minute to work on a project.

NOTE: A project will loose 10% off of its grade for each day that it is late. A project will not be accepted beyond 5 days or one week late.

LABORATORY EXERCISES

Laboratory experiences help us to better understand the world around us. It is necessary for all students to act maturely and exhibit proper laboratory behavior.
I will go over what is expected of you when the time comes for our initial lab.

Every effort should be made to be present on a scheduled lab day.

Due to time constraints and the preparation involved, some activities will not be available for make-up. However, the teacher will provide an alternative assignment when this occurs.

NOTES, JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS AND HANDOUTS

Notes are a necessary part of our classroom and it is expected that each student keep a neat and accurate notebook with all pages dated and all notes complete. All handouts should be kept in a two-pocket folder or binder.

In the event that notes and handouts are missing:

Each student is responsible for obtaining missing notes, including journal entries, and handouts.

STUDENTS WHO LOSE OR MISPLACE HANDOUTS WILL NOT BE GIVEN OTHERS.

GRADING PROCEDURE

The following is a general outline of how assignments are weighed.   Please note that often times within a quarter an assignment may be weighed differently. When this happens the student is always notified far in advance.
