A Brief Moran Family History
Very early in the 1900's Patrick Moran, then a young man, left County Mayo, Ireland aboard ship bound for America. About the same time Sarah Duffy, then a young woman, also boarded a ship leaving her native Ireland, also bound for America. It is unclear whether the two knew each other before leaving Ireland, but coming to Philadelphia by way of New York, they were married in Saint Patrick's Church in Philadelphia in 1906. They were to raise a family of four children (3 girls and 1 boy)...they began on Leedom Street (now found only on old Phila. street maps), moving to Darien Street, then, in 1928, to this home, where their decendants have lived for over 75 years.

Patrick passed away soon after moving to their new home and, one by one, the children married. Eventually leaving my Mother to care for aging Sarah.

She saw a handsome man come back from WWII and stay with with a couple (his Sister and her husband) just a few doors down the street. One Sunday, on her way back from Mass, he walked up from behind and introduced himself...
