Harvest Festival
at Curtis Arboretum
After visiting the peace and tranquility of this place for over 30 years I finally learned its' history today. The little house was open and I spent time reading various framed accounts of its' past.
The Arboretum is the remaining 46 acres of the 167 acre estate of Cyrus H. K. Curtis, publisher of The Saturday Evening Post and the Ladies Home Journal at the turn of the 20th century. In 1937 the mansion was torn down, but his daughter offered the ballroom and music room with the surrounding grounds for Township use for the duration of her life. In 1974 the Township purchased the property outright.
Because of his love of nature, Cyrus H. K. Curtis established the magnificent arboretum, containing over 300 trees of 56 varieties.
It remains one of the most beautiful places I have ever been...
...Patrick waited so long to scale The Wall...
Mama and Rose are in there, too...
...off we go...into the wild blue yonder...flying high into the sky...
What a beautiful day!...
