La Vie Poem
Facade      by Richard Mar

The undisturbed image of Mona Lisa
On a black canvas.
The easel she sits upon is broken
Or so it seems;
It's falling apart.
Soon she'll be at her knees
With slashes across her face,
Bleeding black at her wounds.
Like beheaded royalty
She will be forgotten.
Becoming a distant memory,
She realizes, is her worst fear.
Tragic as it may be,
A piece of her remains.
Her Smile.
Still a single brilliant stroke;
It appears Wider. Genuine. Happier.
Never broken as the canvas tears.
Truth      by Richard Mar

Forever blurring the things
That are supposedly said from your
Deepest thoughts, my head wanders away;
Wonders if whatever you say
Is just a front. Tell me,
Do you love me or what?
My Poem      by Richard Mar

I'm caught under this overwhelming pressure
     To succeed
     To make my parents proud
     To live out this life.
But I think to myself if it's really my life I'm living.
     Trying endlessly
     To prove something
     To someone else
But never myself.
As I rip this letter to shreds
And cry through each tear,
It is for myself I should care
For these days I'm accomplishing.
Even if disappointments
My parents should see,
     Through my eyes
     I realize
     Life's entirely for me
To Live.

A look at some of my favorite poems, that I have written, all by my lonesome.
"To days of inspiration... The need to express....
To communicate... To going against the grain...
Going insane... Going mad..."

My Unknown      by Richard Mar

My Life
Hectic Somber Stressed
As we speak
For now, the outlook seems rather bleak.
Not a breath to catch
As I wait and watch
My days turn to black.

Is there a flame out there,
Melting my dreams; my fate;
Deeply faint; awaiting my arrival?
Or is it out; deceased;
Washed away by rain;
No hope of revival?
In time, I shall see.
isolation.
Down The Taken Path     by Richard Mar

Times like these I'd like to forget,
Where jealousy is everywhere I look
And I regret the decisions that have
Led me to this life that just seems wasted.

I feel I've misplaced my steps one way
Or another and didn't amount to my best.
I wonder if I should have said
yes at a crossroad
Where it seemed just too difficult
To try.  I should have tried.

So now, when everyone is discovering new wonders
And more about themselves and what they can be,
I pulsate with envy
And ask myself
why?

Watching my step only made me more fragile
And while I double checked, I lost
Time amounting to wasted life, for what?
A flawless shell with an undeveloped soul.
Nova     by Richard Mar

Why must the birds and butterflies fly
Or the blue sky dry vast seas from breezes?
With ease we die like dreams at wake and
Grasp as they dissipate and decease.
Free of blight of birth of burden.
A flight to the heavens of earth
To give all light, that gleams our fate,
Is what we take.
