Obituary for Donald B. Yarnell

Donald B. (Don) Yarnell, a former longtime resident of Elk Grove, died Nov. 27, 2006 at the home of his daughter in Antioch, two days before his 79th birthday.

Mr. Yarnell was born Nov. 29, 1927 in Brea and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1945. From 1945 to 1950 he was in the Merchant Marines, and by the age of 19 had sailed around the world. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He and his family moved to Elk Grove in the early 1960s and Mr. Yarnell went to work for Proctor and Gamble where he stayed for 28 years until retiring in 1988. His wife of 34 years, Marie died in 1989, and Mr. Yarnell moved to the Sacramento Delta area. He is survived by his children, Arthur (Art) Yarnell and wife Rhonda of Upland, Robert Yarnell of Sacramento and Karen Taylor and husband Leland of Antioch; and grandchildren Stephanie, Erik, Allison and Adam.
