Dewey Yarnell Jr.

Dewey Yarnell Jr., age 79, Clarksburg, Mo., passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo.

He was born January 8, 1926 in Mumford, N.Y., the son of C.D. and Myrtle (Kneisly) Yarnell who preceded him in death. He was married October 18, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Dorma Stambaugh who survives at the home.

He joined the U.S. Navy on July 20, 1944 and was discharged May 14, 1946. In March of 1947, he started working on a moving van and continued on it for 43 years. In 1991, he quit the road and had some cattle, had rental property and ran D & T Market, a small store in Clarksburg, Mo. He was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church, V.F.W. Post 4345 in California, Mo. and Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #4027 in California, Mo.

Other survivors include three daughters, Kay Gump and Kerry Gump both of Clarksburg, Mo. and Kelly Rotunno with her husband, Russ of Glendora, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Angela Whittle with her husband, Shawn, Robert Gump with his wife, Gerri all of California, Mo., Chris Gump with his wife, Alaina of St. Charles, Mo., Craig Gump of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Cheri Gump of Clarksburg, Mo., Kara Rotunno and Kimberly Rotunna both of Glendora, Calif. and one great grandchild, Landen Thomas Whittle; two sisters, Ruby Markway of Jefferson City, Mo. and Mary Teegan with her husband, Bill of Carol Stream, Ill.; one brother, Jerry Yarnell with his wife, Ella Mae of Kirksvillle, Mo.; two uncles, Edwin Kneisly of Lakewood, Calif. and Herbert Kneisly of Seal Beach, Calif.; several cousins and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, Friday, October 7, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Leroy Moon. Burial will be in Hickman Cemetery, Clarksburg, Mo., with military honors.
