Heartbreak in Chicago
So much for that El-Train Series: Both the Cubs and White Sox have lost, and thus been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Just a couple of days after the Dodgers swept the Cubs, the Tampa Bay Rays managed to defeat the Sox in four games, and this may have been Ken Griffey, Jr.'s last chance at a World Series. Sure, Barry Bonds is the homerun king, but in my mind, Griffey is the greatest ballplayer to have never won a World Series. Although Frank Thomas didn't play in 2005, at least he has a ring now. The Big Hurt deserved that after all of those years of being a huge asset to the Sox in terms of power-hitting. Well, now that baseball season has officially ended in Chicago, we can now focus on the Bears, and it'll be interesting to see how the Bulls do this coming season. I know, last season was a letdown, because the Bulls had made the playoffs in each of the previous three seasons, but hopefully, there won't be another lackluster performance this time around. Well, if you ask me who I'd like to go to the World Series, I'd go with Boston and Philadelphia, just because. That's right, I will be rooting for those other Sox this time. And I think the Phillies will go the distance one season after their upset loss last year by the Colorado Rockies. As they say, "Wait til next year!"
