I have some wonderful news regarding my White Sox: They are the new AL Central champions, after a one-game playoff win against the hard-charging Minnesota Twins. So my ultimate dream of seeing a Cubs-Sox Series is still alive this year. But it won't be easy, though, as the Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays, who won the AL East in amazing fashion, and the Cubs go up against the Dodgers. I will be pulling hard for both Chicago teams, especially since I also have friends who are Cubs fans, in addition to those who are Sox fans. This is a terrific time for Chicago, who has a chance to host the first intracity World Series since New York in 2000 (and by the way, both the Mets and Yankees missed the playoffs this year). Los Angeles also has a decent chance of doing the same, what with the Angels and Dodgers having won their respective division titles. October will be a great month, because of the possibility of an all-Chicago Series. Whether the Cubs and Sox make this a reality remains to be seen, but I hope the Cubs can finally end their World Series drought that dates back to 1945. I'd love to see this happen after a near-miss back in 2003. I wish both Chicago teams the best of luck, and I'll be watching with hope and optimism, all the way up to the end. But when it's all over, I still want to see my Sox win it all, but if the Cubs won, I'd be happy for them too!
