Remembering K-Swift
Although I left Baltimore to return home to Chicago in 2006, I never forgot the many friends I made in my second hometown, and they're now connected to me via MySpace. When I heard the sad news that K-Swift, the famous radio/club DJ, had died, I was shocked beyond belief. One of my first memories of Baltimore was turning on the radio in my car, and hearing the amazing sounds she turned out. In my opinion, she was the queen of the turntable, doing what no other female DJ could do. Even today, she remains the standard that her contemporaries are measured up against. My condolences go out to everyone back in Baltimore, and the faithful listeners on 92Q, where she was a valuable asset. (Until WSMJ popped up on the dial, 92Q was the top preset in my car.) So Baltimore suffers another tragic loss in 2008, the other one being that of WSMJ. (On the flip side, I still listen to WNUA and WGCI back home.) While I like the DJ's on WGCI, none of them could hold a candle to K-Swift, and I sometimes wish her talents could be showcased in other parts of the country. Now we'll never know for sure, and it's a sad day for all of us. Now it's time to bid one final farewell to the queen of the turntable, because she really knew how to make our day! There has never been a talented girl like K-Swift, and there most likely never will be. She will be terribly missed.
