I can hardly believe it, but my birthday is tomorrow! I will turn 28 this year. So far, I’ve had a decent year, but I see lots of room for improvement. For the first time since I moved back home to Chicago, I’ve had a hard time deciding whether I did the right thing in doing so. After six years in Baltimore, I moved back to my hometown and thought I would be happy there, but now I’m just not sure anymore. A lot has changed in the 10 years since I graduated high school. I’m sure most of my former classmates, if not all of them, went to college and are now enjoying stellar careers somewhere. I’m not doing too bad either, having worked at home since 2004. But I guess the one thing that brought on my uncertainty is when I logged onto MySpace and decided to look up the one woman I love the most (sorry, Chi-Town girls, she’s back in B-more!). And almost immediately, I began a flashback of all the times I spent with her. On the other hand, I’ve gotten the band back together again, and I’m listening to WNUA more than ever! Sure, WSMJ is a great Smooth Jazz station, but it’s no WNUA! Anyway, I’m preparing for my big birthday bash tomorrow, and then I’ll drive to Raleigh next weekend to attend Natasha’s going-away party, after which she’ll go on to Greensboro, home of NC A&T University. Remember, I’ve agreed to help set up her dorm, and I just might return to Charlotte to see my old friend Teddy one more time. Then I’ll come back home to Chicago, after an eventful week in Carolina. I haven’t forgotten about Baltimore, either, and I hope to return at least once before the year runs out. Hopefully, I can return on Labor Day. We’ll see about that…
