Keeping it smooth, from Chicago to the world beyond!
Happy 20th Anniversary, WNUA!

I can't believe that it's been 20 years since WNUA 95.5 first came on the air! I've been so fortunate to be a part of the best smooth jazz station ever for most of those 20 years. Here's how my association with the station began:

Sometime during the sixth grade, I was at a relative's house, and the stereo was softly playing jazz in the background. At first I thought that was a tape or CD playing, but then when a voice announced the station's name, I knew it had to be the radio. I've been a faithful listener of the station since then. A lot has happened in the years since then. I decided to take up jazz piano, and I got my brother Walter and his friends to join in and help me start a band. We're still together, at least until one of our members moves away. But back to the station: I'm proud to announce that I've added morning show host Ramsey Lewis to my friends list on MySpace, and I love the other hosts too. Rick O'Dell, Dave Koz, Danae Alexander, Kenny G. but sometimes I wish I still had the old voices back, like Annie Ashe, Shirley Hayes and Loni Taylor (who was also on WSMJ in Baltimore). Then I have all these Smooth Jazz artists, most of whom I've heard on WNUA, from David Sanborn to Kirk Whalum, Greg Adams to Gerald Veasley, George Benson to Nick Colionne, and Joyce Cooling to Mindi Abair. The best thing about it is, I'm already looking forward to another 20 years of listening to the greatest Smooth Jazz radio station in the land. Congratulations on your 20th anniversary, and here's to much more continued success.

Sing the jingle, everybody: "Dubba-you enn you ayyy, ninety-five-point-fiiiiiiiive!" (WNUA 95.5)
