Dion's on MySpace
My cousin Dion just emailed me to tell me that he was on MySpace, and he wanted to send an invitation for me to join, which I did. He's the same guy who is divorcing his wife because he revealed to her that he is, in fact, gay. Dion is now looking for another man in the Detroit area to be his suitor. He says that the disadvantages to same-sex couples include having to go to Canada or New England to get married, and he wants to change that. He's told me many times that the state of Michigan should allow gays and lesbians to marry, and I said "Go for it." I wouldn't mind gay marriage, as long as I'm not involved in it in any form, manner or way. If he asks me to be his best man or a musician, I would turn down the offer in a heartbeat. Not to be rude or anything, but I'd never want to get involved at all. At times, I still feel ashamed to admit that I have a gay cousin, but now, I'm willing to live with it. Now that Dion's on MySpace, he says we can stay connected online. If he wants to marry a man, that's fine by me, but I don't want the wedding to take place in Chicago, or anywhere else in Illinois. There's nothing he wants more than to make Detroit the San Francisco of the East, and there's nothing wrong with that. I wish him all the success in the world, but I still love women, and I will continue to find my happiness with a woman, because the Bible defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Just because a man's marriage to his wife has failed, like Dion's did, doesn't mean that he should turn to men for new love. And as a deeply religious man, I do believe that Dion has broken the rules. But I love him, because he's still family, and the only thing that matters here is that he's found his true love. That's all I have to say about it.
