The Older Women Have it Better!
Looking back on all the times I spent with Rhanda during my last years in Baltimore, I now realize that I like older women better, but then again, age is nothing but a number. I hear they’re trying to prove that in a new TV show called "The Age of Love" this summer.
The older woman-younger man phenomenon has taken off in a major way, thanks to Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher (who are now happily married, by the way). But the older man-younger woman thing is still going strong, with my friend Teddy (the college student in Charlotte) getting in on the act. In fact, he has a lot of college-age friends on his MySpace profile, and frankly, I tip my hat to him. On the other hand, since I’m a jazz aficionado, I tend to favor the older women in that respect; in fact, I’ve gotten my older friends from Baltimore hooked on jazz via smooth-jazz station (and WNUA ripoff) WSMJ (www.wsmj1043.com). However, as far as I’m concerned, I still like WNUA better, LOL!
It doesn’t matter if the woman has kids; in fact, during my time in Baltimore, I’ve gotten to know Rhanda’s three adorable children very well. If they were living in Chicago, I would see a jazz singer and a future star with the Bears (they know who they are!), and I’d get to show them a lot of the things that I know.
In closing, if I had a choice between older and younger women, I’d probably pick the older ones, based on my experience over the last few years. If they like the same things that I do, then there’s a plus for them. Many times, I’ve dreamed of the older women crowding around the piano in my living room and listening to me play (but not half as good as my idol, Ramsey Lewis, although I still try). If it were up to me, I would come back to Baltimore for one week and try to recapture the most amazing six years of my life. I’m not saying that I wish I had Teddy’s kind of friends, nor am I jealous of him (although in a different time, I would be!), but I just think that older women are better because they are fun to be around. To me, it doesn’t matter if the younger ones hate me for saying so, but that’s just the way it is.
