The Washington House

Acrylic on Canvas, 1999

The Washington House is an historic building in Sellersville, PA. Originally a stagecoach stop on the road between Philadelphia and Bethlehem, it is now a popular restaurant. I started this painting in 1986, but then set it aside for 13 years before getting the urge to start painting again. Completing this painting was a very important milestone for me, since it was the first full-scale painting I had done since college. Since then I have not stopped painting!
