Silent Sentinel Acrylic on Canvas Board, 2000 |

| |
This painting was done from a photograph taken on North Carolina’s Outer Banks in the early 1980’s. Chicamacomico was at that time a run down, desolate life saving station, falling into disrepair and long unused. I originally took a color photo of the dormers on the roof and entered it into the Kodak national photo contest, where it won a small prize. I have always loved this building and the ghosts that seem to haunt it. Today the station has been completely restored and is also a museum. |
