The Drifters Recap Part III
12) The immortal MAGOG wants to open the mystic barriers, and allow the the Dark Dimension to engulf Earth!  To serve him, Magog the Wanderer has recruited Bostons street gangs, and summoned some of his demonic alliesthe mini-ape RUNT, the ice-golem SHAARD, the fiery CONFLAAR, and the relentless death demon ALZOL.  He must be stopped!

Magog has visited Earth before if you believe the stories of a long-dead horror writer, Howard Pickman.  In Pickmans fictional work Tales of the Dark Elders, an American Indian shaman banished the forces of Magog hundreds of years before the arrival of the white man, using three artifacts: a red, crystal cubea stone hatchetand a metal sounding fork.  All three were used on Serpent Head Island, in Lake Perigannsettin what is now Massachusetts.  Luckily, all three artifacts still exist!

Arctica took the red, crystal cube from the personal safe of Mr. Saturnine (the ABYSS leader who summoned Magog this timeand was killed as a result).

The Drifters take the stone hatchet from the remains of the underground Boston ABYSS basefighting an immortal, shape-changing creature the entire time!

Finally, the Drifters rush to the Boston Museum of Antiquities to grab the sounding fork (tuning fork).  Some of Magogs demonic henchmen are making a simultaneous break-in but not for the fork!  The Grim Reaper ALZOL is looking for his ancient scytheleft the last time he was banished from Earth.  To complicate matters, some of the local heroes, The Battlestars, rush in making this a three-way fight!  Our heroes later learn that this was a diversion, while the rest of the Battlestars stole an ancient Egyptian statue (and teleported away)!
NOTE: As the armored Battlestar Defender flew into the fray, Ramjet blindsided him knocking him out with one hit!  Thus, a rivalry begins

In the final tally, the Drifters now have the three banishing artifacts (Jack Shen took the fork safely to WYRM headquarters)the Battlestars now have a statue of the goddess Mayetand Magogs demons didnt get the scythe (ALZOL was broken into piecesagainand Shaard was melted!).  Inferno Magi goes to the Battlestars headquarters, to quietly investigate the vigilante heroesand comes back with a glowing report and a Battlestars communicator!  To find Magog, the Drifters visit the dim-witted RUNTand Crater convinces him that the Drifters are now Magogs recruits!
13) The Drifters hang out for a while with Runt and the Demons street gang, until it becomes clear that Runt doesnt know where Magog is (and Magog apparently has no more use for him!).

The team then rushes the three artifacts to Serpent Head Island, to see if they can somehow stop Magog from opening a dimensional portal as the Indian shaman had, centuries earlier.  The fictional story by Howard Pickman mentions a stone alter, but the small, uninhabited island appears to be emptyuntil Ramjet calibrates his sensors and discovers an invisible stone structure!  Literally tossing-aside the unseen structure, our heroes find the small, original alterthen Magog and company arrive!

Shaard, Conflaar and Alzol put up a fight, while Magog and some human lackeys hurriedly try to open the portal to the Dark Dimension!  The Drifters however clean house, take names, and use the three artifacts to implode the portal!  All the demons are sucked-in (except for Runt, who is too far away)!  THE WORLD IS SAFE!  though the Battlestars are still acting increasingly-savageand Runt is now the de facto leader of the Demons street gang!

The heroic Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Arcane, appearstoo late to be any help.  He should have been fighting Magog from the start, but something else has occupied him

The Drifters visit the Battlestars at their floating base, the Bastion.  The Battlestars are polite, but wary.  With a little flirting from Crater, the magical/dimensional Solitaire removes Craters imbedded thug, restoring him to full power!  The Battlestars offer communicators to the teambut only Crater and Jamaleh accept them.
14) Three months later, the Drifters seem to be drifting apart

Crater-Maker has been frequently palling around with the Battlestars fighting alongside them and getting caught up in their extremism!  The savage Battlestars have, by this time, driven-out most of the crime in Bostonand are now spreading their war against evil to other cities!  Strangely, heroes of other cities are starting to join the Battlestars in their bloodlust.

Jamaleh has ignored the Battlestars and concentrated on aligning herself with the Force of this world, becoming more powerful as a result.  Shell need the extra power, as her light saber has been growing ever-weaker!  Jam has miniaturized her gas mask, to just barely cover her nose and mouth.  Jam has also started Jedi training the Owl Girl.  Jessica is impulsive and unfocused, but eager.

James Colt (alias Ramjet) has built a fledgling business/lab/house.  Colt Technologies does independent, advanced research and developmentmostly for WYRM.

Arctica and Jack Shen have been working together at Jacks detective agencyand, despite some jealousy from Jacks fianc, have developed a genuine friendship.  Nonetheless, Arctica still maintains a habit of going out on her own without telling anyone where or why.

Sidekick has become a jet-setting super-model, and left the team.

Stretch returns from visiting his sister, Eunice.  While hes still amnesiac, Stretch is all smilesand reports how he met the surviving (and retired) members of his old team, Freedom Force.  This worlds Stretch was fighting crime in the early 1960sbefore being killed averting World War Not.

Harmon International sues Ramjet (and numerous other armored phenoms) for patent infringement!  Harmon Intl. built the armor worn by Defender (of the Battlestars), and contends that Ramjets armor is an illegal knockoff!  James Colt is indignant, and convinced that Defender has initiated this suit as payback for his easy defeat at the Boston Museum!  Colt is also convinced that James Harmon IV head of Harmon Intl. must actually be Defender.

Jessica Harwezeske (the Owl Girl) turns 16, and gets tracked-down by a law firmwhich presents a pre-recorded holographic message from her dead (and human-looking) parents!  Darvus and Jenn were Jedi Knights, whose spaceship was sucked through a dimensional rift while Jenn was pregnant with Jessica.  Landing on Earth, apparently destroying their damaged ship, and raising Jessicathe family moved to the town of Minerva when their daughter gradually mutated into her present, avian form!
As weve seen, the fanatical group Immaculate Earth occasionally assaults Minerva.  Darvus and Jenn successfully defended the town several timesbut were eventually killed, and their light sabers taken.  Where Jessica once feared Immaculate Earth, her feelings now turn more to hatred and revenge

FBI agents (Phenom Division) Mulder and Scully question the Drifters about the Battlestars.  During the interview Scully visibly recognizes Arctica yet says nothing.

   No gratuitous fight this episodedangit!
15) ARCTICA GETS SHOT!!  While leaving a supermarket (and in civilian clothes), a single bullet goes through her and she collapses!  An ambulance is conveniently just a block awaybut before it arrives, the helpful accountant Hershel Rabinowitz grabs Arctica and runs her to a hospital with his super speed!  Not all super-powered citizens are costumed Players.

At the same time, Jack Shens detective office blows up with Jack in it!!  The ground floor office and second floor apartment are in flames, and Jacks mother is trapped on the third floor!  Nancy Shen hysterically telephones everyone she can think of, but gets no response from Arctica which she relays to the Drifters.  Helen is quickly saved, but Jack is horribly burnedand Arctica is missing!

The team finds Arctica in the hospital (surrounded by cops, since the Battlestars have scared-away most other crime!).  Arctica is fading fast, as the doctors struggle to warm her chilled body!  Its not until Ramjet explains Arcticas dependence on cold that the doctors ice-down her body, and Arctica starts healing inhumanly fast!  Arctica has regeneration but never knew it, since shes never been shot before!

The Boston Police Detectives Murtoch and Riggs investigate the case, and question our heroes.  Who would want to kill Arctica and Jack?  Jacks detective rival, Ted Tanaka, is not so bloodthirsty.  Arctica has never mentioned having enemiesbut then, she hasnt mentioned much of anything.  Shes very secretive!  Adding to the mystery: the high-tech bullet that went through Arctica kept going into the pavement for more than a foot!  What kind of weapon was it, and why was it fired only once?

The FBI (Phenom Division) also investigates.  Agent Mulder appears with a new partner (Agent Krycek), since Agent Scully took a leave of absence shortly after questioning the team about the Battlestars (episode #14).

For protection, Arctica and Jack Shen are moved into the same room of the same hospital with Crater standing guard.  Worrying that there might be another attempt on Arctica and Jack, Ramjet (with cooperation from Riggs and Murtoch)  pretends to move the wounded to his medical lab at Colt Technologiesand carefully leaks to the press, police and general public that the move has taken place.  Sure enough, that night a truck bomb is detonated next to Colt Technologies!  Since the building is reinforced and hardened, the explosion only punches a hole in one wall.

While our heroes are reacting to the attack, Arctica calls from the hospital mumbles that shes in trouble and the line goes dead!  Ramjet rockets to the hospital and finds the entire wing (including Crater) unconscious.  Its a gas attack!  Our armored hero also finds two dark-clad, commando-types around Arctica.  They quickly turn and fireand a volley of double armor-piercing machine gun rounds blasts Ramjet through a wall and punches through his armor!!

Still no gratuitous fight
