Number: 29 Title: Legends of Durankov Type: Original fiction Action Thriller ---------- Synopsis: ---------- "Every story has a beginning; that's where you find out who fucked up." - James Rahn. At a fundamental level, Legends of Durankov is about human foolishness, at all levels. About there being no point to picking sides. It's a classical tragedy about this foolishness. A nuclear strike wipes out Durankoville. Hijacked planes knock down buildings. James Rahn, the lone Durankoville survivor (oddly enough on vacation New York at the time), goes into hiding. Without ally or friend, he finally puts into motion his original plan--destroy the Conspiracy by kill of it's members and physically destroying it's capacity to make war and brain-wash the population. Free the people. For five years, he plots and plans in total secrecy. Fifty of the world's best assassins are hired by him, trained by him, and become the weapon that will change the world. James takes to not even sleeping without being fully armed. He's quiet, observant, and harshly judgemental. Always on edge, he perpetually handles a deck of odd playing cards. Each one has the face, name, and statistics of one of the assassins in little cabal. Fifty for the "hired" guns, one for himself, and one... ---------- Scenes: ---------- "What's on those cards?" "Us." "Us?" "Yep. There you are," James held up on card with a picture and vital information printed on it. "the two of diamonds. There's a whole deck here. Fifty for the men and women I've recruited, one for myself, and one more." "One more what?" "Card." "Of who?" "Oh, don't worry about it." "Not the mad scientist?" "No, not the mad scientist." "But then who?" James just smiled sadly. ----------
