The last couple weeks have been the worst for school work. Normally I would wake up at 8:20 to catch my bus at 9:20, then start my classes at 10, but this week in particular has been a bit different. We're starting our news stories now... that not only means I have to come up with story ideas, but I have to help shoot two stories, as well as be the reporter for two stories in order to pass basic Television.
In basic television stories, not only do we shoot them and report them, but we also edit them and do the voices over the footage... starting the day off with a story meeting at 9am, which means I have to wake up at 7:20am!
This week has been hell for me and Alice as well. I've shot one story and reported two stories, but that means I still have to shoot another story! About a month ago now, I bought a second hand tape off a graduate student, Jill Ramey. The good thing was, it was 10 dollars less than a brand new tape, so $15 instead of $25. The DV Cam tapes are like a cd-rw, you can tape on them thousands of times... the bad thing is, it doesn't help if the tape is already chewed up by the last person that used it, so my tape was shit... $15 down the tube.
At first, I couldn't get the DV CAM to know there was a tape in the camera, but when I found out the tape was chewed up at the first of the tape, Renee fast-forwarded the tape past where it was shitty and it recorded for me... everything was fine again, until yesterday. Yesterday I went to shoot a story on the Canadian Blood Services strike. I had some great shots and had pretty successful interviews from a Communications Specialist and one of the lead strikers... then looking at the footage, I realized my interviews were gone and the footage I did have, most likely had black lines through it... ruined.
To fix things up, Renee lent me a tape for me to use for my shoot today with Brilliance Computer Technologies on Internet Safety, which is working great... after I broke Jill's tape in two and threw it in the garbage =). Renee says the tape was haunted, heh.
I have three stories in the next two weeks to do. Two were interviews and one is a Working Story, showing people at work, due today at 4pm. My first story was ruined because my tape messed up, as it took me forever to start the first story and my work story was a work in progress. I ended up doing my work story at my interview with Brilliance, so that sucked ass! It's been so stressful... plus to top things off, Alice and I both don't have our Student Loans yet! Ugh...
