SMURFS IN TURKEY
Smurfs (Schtroumpfs) reportedly (izgili Hayat Klavuzu, p. 212) made their first appearance in Turkey in the 1960s in a bootleg strip, signed by smet Krdar,  titled as 'Tokmak' ran in Bugn daily. A traced, b&w version of La faim des Schtroumpfs was serialized in the inside of the covers of the weekly Red Kit, the unlicensed black&white Turkish edition of Lucky Luke, beginning with no. 7 (20.7.1966). Some of Johann & Pirlout's adventures with Smurfs as supporting characters were also published in the weekly Kk Prens comics magazine, the similar unlicensed black&white Turkish edition of J&P, in the same decade.  However, the Smurfs'  proper Turkish debut came in 1973 in the pages of Doan Karde, a major children's weekly magazine.  Until it folded in 1978, Doan Karde serialized most of Smurfs's earlier adventures. In, 1995 AD Yaynclk began publishing the monthly irinler (Smurfs) magazine which lasted until 2000 with 56 issues. Beginning with the second half of the 1990s, several series of illustrated Smurf story books were published in Turkey by Milliyet-Egmont (earlier known as AD, later renamed as Doan-Egmont). A small sized series started in circa 1996 (perhaps 1995?) and ran for 20 books. A larger sized series titled as 'Bykbaba irinden ykler' (Stories from Grandpa Smuf) which started in 1996 ran at least 4 books. In 1998, a new small sized series, which carried Doan-Egmont (D-E) flagship, ran for more than 30 books. D-E also published six Smurf comics books, each containing three short adventures. In these years, the animated Smurfs tv series was also broadcased in the Doan Holding's Kanal D network. In 2001, D-E published a new larger sized illustrated story books series, some containing illustrated text versions of classic Smurf comics. Meanwhile, several episodes of the Smurfs tv series were released in vcd and dvd formats (earlier, several episodes had been released on vhs format as well).
Currently, Smurfs appear in Mio, the weekly children's supplement of the daily Milliyet newspaper, with one-page gags.
The first time Smurfs graced the cover of Dogan Kardes: no.25 from 1975.
Others are from 1975: 31, 38, 49, from 1976: 6, 14, 30, 1, from 1977: 48.
