| Thursday 6th September 2001 The New Release of Halloween- Special Anchor Bay Edition DVD has been set for release in theUnited Kingdom on the 1st of October 2001 with these 'Official' features- Halloween Full frame presentation re-formatted to fit 4x3 TVs with an extra 12 minutes, Original theatrical trailers, Television spots, Talent biographies, Still and poster gallery, Behind the scenes still gallery, and the Halloween Unmasked 2000 Documentary, features do include the Network added TV scenes.Also a restored VHS version of Halloween is released on the 1st of October but has none of newfeatures. Two editions will be released. The standard edition features a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, English 5.1 and 2.0 surround tracks, English Closed Captions, a new 17-minute featurette "Halloween 4: Final Cut," the theatrical trailer and a poster replica. Retail is $24.95. A special limited edition tin will also be released, though the only difference according to the press materials is a 4-page collectible booklet and the packaging, yet retail is $39.95." |

| Tuesday 15th January 2002 It seems that Anchor Bay UK have put back the release date one week for the new UK DVD versions of Halloween 4 and Halloween 5.The Release date is now Monday, 28th January 2002.In other news the UK sky channel FilmFour will be showing a one-hour Documentary called "Music behind the Scenes" this first part of a six-part series will be on Suspense though Music.Includes a interview with John Carpenter talking about the music from Halloween. Music behind the Scenes- 22:00PM, Thursday 17th January on FilmFour. |
| Wednesday 30th January 2002 Some exciting news from The Myers Museum: The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood featured a slew of John Carpenter movies this weekend and Halloween was among them. Better yet, Mr. Carpenter himself was there to briefly discuss each film and take questions from the audience. I attended Saturday's movies (which included The Thing, Halloween and The Fog), but I wasn't lucky enough to sit next to a Dimension films representative, who happened to have some pretty exciting gossip! However, Stan, a Myers Museum website visitor, was lucky enough and he wrote in to give The Myers Museum the scoop.Here is what he said: "Last Night for the first time I saw Halloween on the big screen at the Egyptian Theatre. It was GREAT! John Carpenter was there and his interviews were great, too. He also said that he was sorry that Mr. Akkad keeps throwing bad sequels at us, but he wasn't too sorry because they still pay him something each time one gets made! Carpenter also gave the audience directions on how to get to the Doyle and Wallace houses! One more thing... I was sitting next to someone who works at Dimension who told me that each time there is a Halloween showing somewhere it always sells out. He said that with Halloween 8 due in the summer (early August he says) that they want to do a Halloween re-issue for its 25th anniversary. They want to do a Special Edition (like The Exorcist, E.T., etc.), but legal issues may arise. I asked him what they could do for a special edition (i.e., put in the extra TV scenes, deleted scenes, alternate scenes, etc.), and he said other than the sound being remixed he wasn't sure himself. In the Halloween script there is a scene where a knife falls out of the Shape's pocket when one of Tommy's bullies runs into him at the school, but there are legal issues that might keep them from getting this scene filmed and inserted into the movie. BUT... this guy told me that Dimension is begging and pleading with John Carpenter to be a part of this Special Editon! Debra Hill is all for it. It's a little more than a year away he said, so there is hope..." |
