| In a recent interview for Wicked Magazine, John Carpenter spoke about his up coming movie GHOST OF MARS. One of the questions he's was asked is "Have you written any scripts that have never been produced?" and Carpenter answered with the following (and I quote!); "I wrote a treatment back in 1982 for HALLOWEEN 3. I had no plans on actually directing or producing the movie, but I wanted to give the next writer a good head start. I hated the idea to begin with, but Moustapha Akkad had persuaded me to give him a hand. Now at the time, Akkad had every intention on having Michael Myers return. So the treatment I wrote actually has Michael Myers in it. I wanted the story to end with HALLOWEEN 2, but in Hollywood money talks. The basic story I had in mind was very different than the first two. It took place 5 years after HALLOWEEN 2 (which is really 197 and showed Laurie Strode as the new chiefe of police in a small town in Chicago. Laurie, being the ever protective police woman, makes extra sure that people are safe on Halloween night. Only its a 5 year reunion and brother Michael has hunted her down to her small chicago town. On Halloween night a group of kids throw a halloween party at their high school. Over 80 kids show up for the party. And so does Michael. What made this story so different, was that Michael decides to take the students hostage. Instead of killing them, he locks them in the school gym. He let's one student free to go get the cops, but the rest are locked up. When the town police arrive, including police chiefe Laurie Strode, it turns into one hell of a hostage crisis, with Laurie and Michael alone in the halls of the school. But at the last minute, Dr. Loomis shows up out of nowhere and takes Michael down with a machine gun. My working title was HALLOWEEN 3: LAURIE'S LAST STAND. But once Akkad read my treatment, he wasn't too pleased. And almost 2 weeks later, he asked me to try somethng else. And I came up with SEASON OF THE WITCH." |
