Digital pre-press processes

This unit is concerned with developing and understanding of the principles of digital
pre-press processes, including the types of hardware and software used, conversion of originals to digital files, imposition and layout for print, creation of image carriers, digital proofing, pre-flighting and ripping of files.

Outcomes

  1. Identify the hardware and software systems typically used in pre-press
  2. Describe the basic principles of converting originals into digital files
  3. Identify the basic principles of layout and imposition, including the use
    and placement of the basic marks
  4. Describe the principles involved in the production of image carriers
  5. Describe the principles involved in the production of digital proofs
  6. Describe the basic principles of pre-flighting and ripping of files in
    digital pre-press
