The Boxer is not the right dog for everyone. They typically range in size from 60-100 pounds and are very energetic and playful. Boxers own their people and have to be included in everything that you do. Boxers need to be with their family and can become difficult if they do not spend time with their family. Though Boxers snore, drool and pass gas, they are not suited for a backyard lifestyle. Boxers have short hair and typically shed when the weather changes. Boxers suffer from exposure to extreme temperatures as their thin hair offers no protection against the cold and their short muzzles makes extreme heat untolerable. Boxers need to be trained. They are extremely intelligent and become bored easily, so the training must be fair, fun and interesting to them. Boxers are very independent and will not be bossed around. They will however work with you if encouraged to do so. Cookies always help. Boxers are wondeful with children and natural guard dogs.
Boxers are house dogs. They need plenty of exercise. They need to be around humans. They drool, snore, pass gas and shed. Even though they grow older, they are always puppies at heart.
