What does it mean to be alone
To have no one in your life
What does it mean to be by yourself
To have an existance filled with strife
It means never having to say you're sorry
And not having to put the lid down
It means eating dinner by yourself
And coming home to a house with no sound
It means decorating the room however you want
Leaving a mess with no one on your case
But at night in bed when you try to snuggle
You end up grabbing nothing but empty space
It means having the house all to yourself
And turning it into your own private lair
It means whenever you expierence something new
You have no one with whom to share
You can eat and drink and smoke all you want
Stay up late and sleep in to
But everytime you think of something funny
The only person that laughs is you
You don't have to worry about what others think
Do they love me, do they share my fears
But when you break down and start to cry
There's no one there to wipe your tears
You can dress how you want, and say what you feel
And never worry about bothering or offending anyone
But you have no one to share life's new expierences
To watch a movie with, or enjoy the setting sun.
These are the two paths you can take in life
Both have their ups and downs, their joy and their heartache
And i've traveled down both, back and forth, many times
Sometimes the choice wasn't even mine which road to take
And know I've come to realize that I'll always be alone
No matter what I try, no matter what changes I make
But i've also come to realize that maybe it's for the best
Because there's nothing left of my heart to break.
