AFC Telford fans lost by the
odd goal in an away fixture against a strong Longden side. Longden made
the early running but came unstuck against a much more solid looking
Telford team. Eventually though, a ball over the top caught the Telford
defence napping, and the Longden forward latched onto it before placing
the ball into the bottom corner. Telford reacted well to this and begin to get
control of the game in midfield and came close to equalising when a long
ball forward found Mannsy whose shot was well saved by the Longden and
recently signed AFC Telford fans 'keeper Rob Hughes. Moments later the
breakthrough did come when a superb ball forward by Spraggy found Lee
McNally who knocked the ball around the 'keeper and then ran onto hammer
the ball into the empty net.
Half Time: AFC Telford Fans 1 Longden 1
Not long into the second
half a defensive lapse cost Telford dearly as Longden took the lead
through a soft goal. The rest of the half was fairly even as Longden
struck the Telford cross bar twice and Telfords best chances fell to
Corbs, whose effort was well parried by Rob Hughes, and Lee McNally
whose effort went the wrong side of the post by inches.

1 Longden 2
A much better performance
from the Telford team, particularly defensively, against a team who had
recently beaten the Shrewsbury ASFC 4-1. Thanks to Longden for getting
the game on and for supplying food afterwards!
