Richmond Power Boat Association
2009
Jammin' on the James
REGISTRATION FORM
General Information

The Richmond Power Boat Association has been around for more than 20 years.  Members of our club own boats with sizes that typically range from 22ft up to 47ft.  Our roster has over 200 boaters from all over the eastern U.S.  We do not charge dues, and are considered a non-profit corporation by the State of Virginia.  All excess proceeds from the Run are contributed to the Shriners our donation for 2008 was $13,000.00.

Our Run continues to be one of the premier boating events in the country.  In 2008 we were recognized as one of the top 10 Poker Runs in the country by Hot Boat and Powerboat Magazines.  Last year we had 97 boats in attendance.  The course offers various water conditions, so boats of all styles and capabilities can participate.

The 2009 Jammin on the James Poker Run will be held on July 11th, 2009.  Our Run begins at Jordan Point Marina in Hopewell, VA  (www.jordanpoint.com).  For the convenience of our Captains, we have two captains meetings at their facility.  The first is Friday evening, July 11th at 7pm, and the second is at 9am on the day of the event.  Attendance at either meeting is MANADATORY.  We discuss boat safety, the course, and provide other general information about the Run.

On Saturday we depart the Hopewell area at 10am.  Our second card stop is off historic Jamestown, VA This is a water stop.  From there we head down river to Smithfield Station for our lunch stop (www.smithfieldstation.com).  We spend about an hour and a half here socializing and enjoying the pool.

After lunch, we head down to the Hampton Roads area.  For those boats wanting to extend the run a bit, this year we are once again having our optional Bay Leg.  This will give the participants an opportunity to head into the Chesapeake Bay for some air time and additional photo opportunities.

If you decide not to participate in the Bay Leg, you are welcome to head into the overnight dockage at Tidewater Yacht Marina/Portsmouth Renaissance.  Here we begin our legendary dock party until late afternoon and then we head to the ballroom at the Renaissance for our dinner banquet and awards.  This year we are proud to have the Worx Band back with us providing entertainment.  At midnight the Run officially ends.

Sunday is free time to get back to Hopewell.  Some people stop half way back at Chippokes State Park and raft up to enjoy the water.
