| The truck has been in the family since my father bought it new in 1964. In the early 70's my younger brother bought the truck from my dad and traded the stock steel wheels and hubcaps for a set of used American Racing Wheels. Over the years the wheels corroded and looked well used and abused by the time I got the truck so I decided I might as well upgrade to a newer and better looking wheel. I quickly ran into two problems. First, there are a limited number of wheel manufactures that make 6 lug wheels and secondly I was quickly exceeding my budget for the overall restoration so new wheels were out. I decided to have a local wheel polishing company try to restore them to a presentable level by polishing and painting the center sections. To my surprise the BMW silver painted (base coat/clear coat) center sections and the polished rim and bead looked great with the new Goodyear tires. |
