The Mixer |
First of all profound apologies for taking so long to write this. It was partly due to not finding the time to sit down and get it done, but mostly because I didn't have any single event as interesting as my last adventure to Notts. So first of all I will give you the low down on the pub and the staff. |

The Good Mixer has been trading under that name for 25 years but has been a pub for as long as any one can remember. It became famous as the place where brit pop originated. Blur, Oasis and more recently the darkness plus a heap more bands (that I've never heard but people in Camden tell me they are famous) used to drink and have jam sessions. The bar is not big, so in its hay day all the customers would line Inverness Street from one end to the other. On busy Saturdays we can have up to 200 people outside on the street so I imagine that back in the day there could be up to 500+ people outside. The bar became so popular a lot of musicians stopped coming which meant so did the autograph hunters. In saying that it is still one of the busiest pubs in Camden. |

The pub is owned free hold by an Irish couple in their 50's (I think) named Mike and Pat. I have only met them a couple of times as they spend most of the summer back in Ireland. While they are away their daughter Sarah and her kiwi husband Scott run the place. There are five live in bar staff - two kiwis and three aussies. We all live at the pub so it is like a happy (mostly) family. |

Sarah - She is just lovely. She looks after us like we are her little kids even though we are only a couple of years apart. Sarah is a fantastic cook, great value on the piss and also a bit of a looker (sorry Scott). The other lads and herself tell me she can be pretty scary at times when she is pissed off, but she loves the Mixer so it understandable that she would get passionate about it when someone is letting it down. |

Scott - Scott is one of those generally great guys you just don't meet enough of. You know you could take him out with your friends and everyone would love him. He has always got a smile on his face and will go out of his way to help out or make you feel welcome. He has real integrity and earns respect before asking for it, which I love. Together the two of them are really sweet, they are just so well suited for each other |

Scotty (Fatty) - Scotty comes from Perth and has been at the mixer for 18 months. Maybe it is something to do with the name but he too is just a really top guy. He has the coolest laugh where if he thinks something is funny you sure know about it. When he is on it you can?t stop him laughing. He has a real sharp and dry wit that fits in well with some of the louder people around here (Richie). |

Jeese - Comes from somewhere close to Melbourne he has been here going on a year. He is a real sports nut, he loves all sports especially tennis and AFL. He loves to punt, especially multi's (thought you would like to hear that zak and dave). When he drinks he gets completely out of control, can be annoying but I still find it funny. |

Richie - Comes from Auckland but he alright. He has been away from home for 4yrs and spent 2 and a half at the mixer. Talk about extroverts, this guy is louder than Macca, crazier than Rudkin, does more drugs than Gower and looks like a smaller version of one of the Bushwackers. I get on with Richie really well as we have a similar sense of humour and he is always looking to have fun. |

Ben - Ben has only been here for a couple of weeks since Craig left. He comes from Melbourne and has been over here for 18months. He is really easy to get along with. All the guys have taken to him already. He would always rather hear about you than talk about himself, which is a characteristic that is hard to find in a lot people. He is one of those people that always makes you feel better about yourself. |

Well that's it. We do have a part timer that works on Saturday nights called Geoff, he is a really nice fella that is obsessed with curries. Oh and there is a Scotsman named Al that gets paid to drink, entertain us with his pointless stories and pick up the occasional glass or two. |
