| Kathryn Sullivan was selected as an astronaut in NASA's eighth class (1978). She would fly on three space shuttle missions during her career. Her flight came in 1984 when she served as a mission specialist on board the flight of STS-41-G. Next, she was assigned to serve as a mission specialist on STS-31 in 1990; this is the mission that deployed the famous Hubble Space Telescope. Sulluvan's final mission came in 1992 when she was the payload commander of STS-45. She retired from the astronaut corps in 1992 having logged 22 days in space. My Collection: This is a astronaut water survival course cover which Sullivan has autographed (as have 13 other astronauts). There is a close-up of her signature below the image of the cover. |
