Andrian G. Nikolayev
(1929-2004)
Andrian Nikolayev was selected as a cosmonaut in 1960.  He made his first flight into space as commander of the Vostok 5 mission in 1962.  Next, he commanded the 17 day flight of Soyuz 9 in 1970.  Nikolayev retired in 1982 having spent 21 days in space during his two missions.  On July 3, 2004, he died after suffering a heart attack.
