| Alexei A. Leonov | ||||||||
| Alexei Leonov was selected as a cosmonaut in 1960. He made his first flight into space serving as the flight engineer onboard the historic Voskhod 2 mission in 1965. During this mission, Leonov became the first man to preform a spacwalk; this made him one of the most famous cosmonauts (second only to Yuri Gagarin). His second flight came in 1975 when he commanded the Soyuz 19 mission. This was the Soviet part of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project when Soyuz 19 docked with an American Apollo spacecraft. Leonov retired in 1982 having logged a total of 7 days in space. My Collection: This is an autographed ASTP cover (Leonov autographed it when it was upside-down, the image is shown so his signature appears correctly). |
