Susan L. Kilrain
Susan Kilrain (then Susan Still) was selected as an astronaut in NASA's fifteenth class (1995).  She has made two flights into space.  In April of 1997, she flew as the pilot for the STS-83 mission becoming only the second woman to pilot the space shuttle.  STS-83 was planned to be a fifteen day scientific flight with much of the researching taking place in the Microgravity Science Laboratory (MSL) which was the primary payload.  About four days into the flight, fuel cell #2 on the Space Shuttle Columbia failed forcing the crew to abort the mission and land early.  In July of 1997, the MSL mission was reflown with the designation STS-94; it also carried the same crew.  Therefore, Kilrain also served as the pilot for STS-94.  During her two missions, she logged 19 days in space.  She retired from the astronaut corps in 2002.

My Collection: Kilrain signed and inscribed the letter I sent to her on which I requested an autograph.  This is on the bottom of a 8x10.5 piece of notebook paper.
