| Chris Hadfield was selected by the CSA in 1992, he recieved NASA training as a shuttle mission specialist that same year. He made his first flight into space serving as a mission specialist on STS-74 in 1995. Next, Hadfield was assigned to the STS-100 flight as a mission specialist; this mission flew in 2001.
