Richard O. Covey
Richard Covey was selected as an astronaut in NASA's eighth class (1978).  During his career, he served on four space shuttle crews.  His first mission came in 1985 when he served as a pilot on board STS-51-I.  Next, he was named the pilot of STS-26 which was the first space shuttle mission following the Challenger disaster; STS-26 flew in 1988.  In 1990 he was given command of his third mission which was designated STS-38.  His final flight came in 1993 when he served as the commander of STS-61.  Covey retired from the astronaut corps in 1994 having spent 26 days in space.
