Michael L. Coats
Michael Coats was selected as an astronaut in NASA's eighth class (1978).  The first of his three missions came in 1984 when he served as the pilot onboard STS-41-D, this was the maiden voyage of the Space Shuttle Discovery.  Next, he commanded STS-29 in 1989.  His final mission came in 1991 when he commanded the STS-39 flight.  Coats retired from the astronaut corps in 1991 having logged 19 days in space.
