| William A. Anders was selected as an astronaut in NASA's third class (1963). He made is only space flight over Christmas of 1968 when he flew as the LMP on Apollo 8. This historic mission made Anders and the rest of his crew the first men to fly to the moon. Anders has logged 6 days in space. He retired from the astronaut corps in 1969.
